Early Care
1 in 5
Only 1 in 5 Delaware kids has access to a publicly-funded early care program.
A coalition forming now
Delaware has a real opportunity to pass legislation that will strengthen and fully fund our early childcare and K-12 public schools. A growing coalition of parents, educators, and organizations is coming together to fight for real, stable investment in our childcare and education systems, and we want your voice in the conversation.
Together, we are fighting for quality, affordable preschool and early childhood programs that prepare our children to start school ready to learn without forcing families into debt. We are fighting for a high-quality K-12 school system where every child is able to read at grade level and every educator is able to earn a living wage. We are fighting for safe and healthy public school buildings where every classroom is free of mold and lead and every water fountain is safe to drink. And we are fighting for a school system that gives equal weight to career training and college preparedness so every child graduates with the skills they need to compete for good-paying jobs.
We're still in the listening phase. Over the coming months, we will be gathering input from educators, families, providers, advocates, and community leaders across the state to understand what's working, what isn't, and what kinds of solutions would make the biggest difference for kids 0–18. No policy is set in stone—we're building this together.
